When I lived in Washington DC I had a coworker who became a good friend. She and I would go out on the town for little dinner dates in Bethesda and Arlington as there are countless little restaurants of every ethnicity. It was fun, it was delicious. It was the best of times.
One of the places we went to was called Cava Mezze which was a Mediterranean restaurant with tapas style dishes. I remember going there and eating too much, laughing too much, and a sore belly. One of the many dishes we had there was a shrimp on polenta. When I was doing a little browsing, I saw a recipe that reminded me of that dish which is what I made for dinner last night, this delish little feast. Yummmm. Even my husband who has a slight shellfish allergy had a good plate full because it was so tasty. Bonus: the beautiful fennel garnish makes you look like a pro.
Polenta can be made with just water but using some milk makes it more creamy. Enjoy! xo
